America's Cup winner James Spithill to attend Europe's largest marine show - boot Düsseldorf
SAN FRANCISCO (Jan. 19, 2012) - The youngest winning skipper in the 161-year history of the America's Cup will make two center-stage appearances at BOOT on the weekend of Jan. 20-21.
Spithill will also be a guest of honor at the European Yacht of the Year
presentation, announcing the nominees and winners of the four Sail categories at the awards ceremony.
Spithill was just 31 when he steered the giant trimaran USA 17 to victory in Valencia nearly two years ago to win the 33rd America's Cup. Now he leads the sailing team's effort to defend the 34th series to be held in San Francisco in 2013.
The stage appearances will be in Hall 17 of boot, at 1530 on Saturday, 21st January and 1500 on Sunday, 22nd January. The EYOTY gala, in which Europe's leading boating magazines select the top sail and power boats, takes place on Saturday night.
