Auckland greets Oceans of Hope.

The yacht sailed into The Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron on May 8th at 11:45 a.m. local time to an enthusiastic dockside audience awaiting their arrival. Cheers ensued, champagne bottles popped and pennants were exchanged with MS Auckland. The arrival coincides with the ANZAN 2015 conference and the celebration of MS Auckland's 50th Anniversary.

Meet the MS crew who have been on board Oceans of Hope from Samoa to New Zealand: Henny, Peter, Greg, Craig, Arne and Mara.

Help future MS crew member, 28-year-old Bjarni Dagbjartsson, raise money allowing others living with MS to join the Oceans of Hope journey.
The wind picked up and Oceans of Hope raced the final stretch into Auckland. While the crew waited for her to arrive MS crew member Mara took some time to reflect on the importance of friends and family and what adversity can teach you.

Crossing the vast expanse of the Pacific Ocean via the Galapagos Islands, French Polynesia and Samoa, Oceans of Hope is currently in Auckland and will sail on to Sydney.
"For the first time since I was diagnosed with MS I forgot I have MS", says MS crew member Todd Peter Reis about his journey on Oceans of Hope from Tahiti to Samoa.

A Global Voyage to Change Perceptions of Multiple Sclerosis
The Sailing Sclerosis project, Oceans of Hope, is the first ever circumnavigation by a yacht crewed by people with MS. The project will change the perception of multiple sclerosis by showing what is possible when people with a chronic disease are empowered to conquer their individual challenges, by engaging those whose lives are touched by MS and developing networks as a foundation for life-changing behaviours.

Biogen is the Official Partner of Oceans of Hope. Through cutting-edge science and medicine Biogen discovers, develops and delivers to patients worldwide innovative therapies for the treatment of MS. Founded in 1978, Biogen is the world's oldest independent biotechnology company.
