Tara Arrives at Dennis Conner's North Cove
Winters are usually quiet on the Manhattan waterfront, but not this year.
The 119 foot expedition yacht "Tara" has arrived at Dennis Conner's North Cove.
For the past 2 1/2 years, she has been sailing around the world on a voyage of
exploration.
Her exploration is in the scientific realm. Tara is outfitted with some of the
newest and most advanced equipment. Scientists use the voyage and equipment to
study important environmental issues.
Tara has visited over 40 countries before making landfall here in the Big Apple.
The crew seems very happy to be part of the excitement of New York City!
Tara will stay at North Cove until Feb. 12. Then she heads off to continue her
voyage.
Yesterday, the scientists unloaded their valuable water samples into refrigerated
trucks. Now the crew has a day of rest before more events including a reception
at the French Consulate on Thursday.
