The public is invited aboard the ship for FREE educational dockside deck tours in the afternoon on Saturday, August 25 and Sunday, August 26. For those looking to experience the power and finesse of an 1812-era privateer under sail, Pride of Baltimore II will offer several opportunities to join the crew for an excursion Friday through Sunday, August 24-26. For daysail reservations, call toll free 1-888-557-7433 or visit www.pride2.org for online ticketing. Tickets are $65 for Adults/$35 Age 12 and under.

Pride of Baltimore II is a reproduction of a Baltimore built Topsail Schooner; the sleek, maneuverable vessels used as privateers during the War of 1812. The original "pride of Baltimore", Chasseur, defended America's freedom by serving as an offensive weapon of war and blockade-runner. Sailing out of New York Harbor in 1814 under the command of the intrepid Captain Thomas Boyle, Chasseur executed a one ship blockade of the British Isles, wreaking havoc on British merchant shipping.

The British attacked Baltimore in 1814 in an attempt to destroy the Fells Point shipyards where privateer ships were built. During the September 13, 1814 Battle of Baltimore, Francis Scott Key wrote the words that became our nation's anthem, "The Star-Spangled Banner".

As the world's most traveled historic schooner, Pride of Baltimore II sails worldwide promoting U.S. and maritime history and serves as a unique learning platform for science, technology, engineering, math and social studies programs. Pride of Baltimore II has traveled throughout the Atlantic Coast this sailing season, participating in the U.S. Navy, OpSail, and Tall Ships America festivals and events commemorating the Bicentennial of the War of 1812. Pride II last visited New York in May, where she participated in the Fleet Week New York/ OpSail Parade of Sail.
