Manhattan Sailing Club - Silver Jubilee 1987-2012
Invitation to Participate:
Dennis Conner International Yacht Club Challenge
Aug. 2012
Manhattan Sailing Club is celebrating it's Silver Jubilee this summer.
To celebrate, we are inviting yacht clubs from around the world to come visit New
York City and participate in a regatta which promotes international goodwill through
friendly competition.
We hope you and your yacht club will consider entering a team.
The name of the regatta is the "Dennis Conner International Yacht Club Challenge."
This will be the 5th edition of the regatta. Dennis Conner, America's most famous
sailor, is the Patron of this event.
The purpose of the regatta is to bring together amateur club sailors from around
the world. You do not have to be a world champion to participate. This event
is designed for normal club sailors. The focus of the event is friendship and a
great visit to New York City.
The regatta will be raced on identical J/24 sailboats. All you and your sailing
team need to do is fly to our city. We provide you with the equipment to race.
This event will be open to 15 to 20 teams. The dates will be August 17, 18 & 19,
2012.
Up to 8 races will be sailed over three days. Races will be on short courses in
New York Harbor, near the Statue of Liberty and the Skyline of Manhattan. It is
a very dramatic race course.
Participating yacht clubs are encouraged to bring both a racing and a social team.
This regatta is about building international goodwill.
The Notice of Race is available on our website at
Thank you very much for your consideration.
Wishing you the very best, I remain sincerely,
Michael Fortenbaugh
Commodore, Manhattan Sailing Club
