Geronimo rounds the Cape of Good Hope
The 11-man crew of the Cap Gemini and Schneider Electric trimaran crossed the longitude of the Cape of Good Hope (18°28'26" East) at 22:15 GMT on Sunday.
Having set off in pursuit of the Jules Verne Trophy at 23:17 GMT on 25 February, Olivier de Kersauson and his crew passed this highly symbolic waypoint after 17 days, 22 hours and 58 minutes at sea.
Geronimo is therefore 19 hours, 42 minutes (nearly 400 nautical miles) ahead of the current record as she leaves the Atlantic behind.
