Originally from Ipswich, Josh Hall was born into a family of sailors and he grew up racing around the shores of England. Josh Hall has an incredible thirst for adventure, challenge and victory, with 15 years and 130,000 miles of experience in offshore racing. Well trained in communications, he also manages the marketing & communications for all his own sailing sponsorship projects.
Between 1984 and 1987 he oversaw the build of the 60ft trimaran 'British Airways' and took part in several competitions with renowned skipper Sir Robin Knox Johnston. Josh went on to skipper the Open 50 'New Spirit of Ipswich', in which he came 3rd in Class II of the 1990/1 BOC Solo, Round the World race, and won the 1991 BOC Transatlantic Challenge.

In the next 1992/4 BOC Solo Round the World race, he lost his new Open 60 'Gartmore' in the Southern Atlantic ocean after a collision with a container. He came back with 'Gartmore 2' to win the Newport-Bermuda-Newport transatlantic race, and take second place in Class I of the 1996 Europe 1 Star. In 1998 he embarked upon the Around Alone race, however the yacht was dismasted in the third leg.

Josh and his shore team have spent the summer of 2000 in Cowes, Isle of Wight, refining, servicing and renewing all the equipment on board his Open 60 in preparation for this year's Vendée Globe.
