Yves Parlier was born in 1960 and currently lives in France with his wife and two children. Well known for his genius in weather routing, this renowned skipper has an impressive race history, winning with remarkable regularity. He suffered a terrible paragliding accident in 1998, but since his recovery, won the Route de l'Or. In 1999, he teamed up with Ellen MacArthur to win the Course de l'Europe, and later the same year raced again with her in the Transat Jacques Vabre, where they suffered serious rig damage. Previously, he co-skippered with Eric Tabarly to win the 1997 race. His great experience with his Open 60 'Aquitaine Innovations' will inevitably rank him amongst the favourites to win any race he enters.
Over the last few years, Yves Parlier has intensified his research to innovate and develop his boat performance and reliability.

Yves Parlier had a short race during the Europe 1 New Man STAR in June, 2000. After just a couple of days, his Open 60 Aquitaine Innovations was dismasted in the first major depression to hit the fleet. Parlier was below sleeping at the time, so he's not sure what caused the rig failure, but he set up a jury rig and sailed back to France without further incident.
