EDS Leg 2 - Cuxhaven - Portsmouth

13.07.2001

11.07.2001
After a sprint in the North Sea, Sill and Kingfisher are heading the pack,
with a lead of 22 miles (41 km) over their pursuers. At 0744 GMT today Wednesday, Roland Jourdain was leading Ellen MacArthur by 4 miles (7 km), after having reeled in 218 miles (403 km) in 24 hours.
* Polled in third position, Fila had Gartmore and Ecover hard on her heels, the latter making a good comeback after her northerly option taken at the start from Cuxhaven (Germany). Both boats are within 7 miles (13 km) of each other, and are fighting hard for a place on the podium....
There is a lot of shipping in the area, which is a worry, though quite incredible to watch their sun-lit bows ride through this steep and confused sea... Soon the tide will turn - and we know however bad now - things will get even worse..

POSITIONS : 11th July 2001, 10.42 GMT
