Pressemitteilung der illbruck Challenge zum Start der 6. Etappe des Volvo Ocean Race
Miami, USA, April 13th, 2002
Weather Forecast for Volvo Ocean Race Miami Restart
The sixth stage of the Volvo Ocean Race will start from Miami tomorrow, Sunday, April 14th, at 1300 local time. The starting box will be set off Miami Beach, approximately 4nm north of the Miami Harbour entrance sea buoy. There will be two turning marks, which the fleet will leave to starboard. The first mark will be set approximately 2.5 miles north of the start line, which the fleet will cross from south to north. The second turning mark is a further 2 miles north.
The finish line in Baltimore, which also is to be crossed from south to north, is off Fort McHenry. There is a possibility that the course will be shortened, particularly in the event of strong north westerly winds and a finish at low tide, or very light winds that may lead to conflicts with commercial shipping in the approaches to Baltimore harbour.
Leg six from Miami to Baltimore is 875 nautical miles and the estimated time of arrival is 17th April.

issued by the Met Office is as follows:
