PENDING FINAL PREPARATIONS, SATURDAY MORNING DEPARTURE PLANNED AFTER RAPID MAST REPAIR BY MULTIPLAST
* Great things don't come easy...but the guys at Multiplast, with Bruno Peryon and his team have really done a great job to get the broken mast repaired...Bruno announced today they are planning for a departure this Saturday between 0600 and 1000.
* After the desperation of the moment of dismasting, came hope led by Bruno's determination to find a solution, and now the team are once again raring to go - Nick explains the ambience in Vannes : "Of course we're all pretty happy, and a bit relieved as well that de Kersauson is having a tough time in the Doldrums...after his first 3 days at high mileage, it was getting hard for us to take here on land! We've been watching the days tick by here, wondering if we were going to get the repair done in time before the Southern Ocean winter gate closed". [to leave later than March 10 is considered a notch too dangerous because of the significant increase in ice and bad conditions in the south].
* WEATHER FOR DEPARTURE : whilst it might not be the perfect weather to 'slingshot' to the Equator, this weekend promises nonetheless to be a good enough window to get the team on their way at a good pace. "It might not be a really fast start, but there are plenty of miles of ocean to gain on the other guys, and the record" explained one raring to go Aussie!
