LATEST LOGBOOK FROM NICK
Having a bit of computer trouble. The obvious news of yesterday is that we crossed the Equator I think at about 07:36 GMT and are now in Southern Hemisphere, managed to sleep through another one. Neptune appeared in the morning and we all got a present from our shore team. No points for guessing that mine was a French phrase book. It was a real treat, bit of a laugh.
Yesterday afternoon the breeze just kept slowly building and by evening 20-25kts upwind. Quite lumpy. Boatspeed around 20-22K could go faster but don't want to stress boat as she is still heavy with food etc.
Temperature is dropping but we are forced to wear full wet weather gear as its so wet on deck. So it hot and sticky and very wet. No complaints as we are heading south at speed.
I am really looking forward to heading east, but not before having to negotiate a large high right in our path. We should see its influence in about a day and a half, It looks as though it will slow progress dramatically for a while.
have a few big squalls about and are a little over powered with 1 reef and staysail so I had better stand by.
sorry about the typing but its rough.
