CLIPPER FLEET GEARS UP FOR RACE START
* Press Conference Alert for 10:30 on Monday, 21 October*
Sir Robin Knox-Johnston’s fleet of 60-foot Clipper yachts are moored in
Liverpool's Albert Dock in preparation for the longest round the world yacht
race, starting on Sunday, 27 October.
With only a week until the race start gun is fired, the crews are gathering
in force and final yacht preparations are in full swing.
Bristol, Cape Town, Glasgow, Hong Kong, Jersey, Liverpool, London and _blank
York Clippers arrived in Liverpool yesterday morning and performed a
formation sail past with the Royal Liver Building as a spectacular backdrop.
The official race start press conference will take place at 10:30 tomorrow,
Monday, 21 October. Fronted by the Race Director, Colin de Mowbray and
Councillor Warren Bradley, Liverpool's Executive Member for Leisure and
Culture, it will take place in Albert Dock's Pan American Club with a
skippers Q&A session to precede a tour of the dynamic 60-foot Clipper
yachts.
Tomorrow also sees the opening of the Clipper 2002 Media Centre in the
Britannia 2 suite, 2nd floor of Albert Dock's Holiday Inn Express.
