IN BRIEF
* BIG BREEZE at Cape Finisterre - when we spoke to KINGFISHER this morning
at 0800 they were 4 miles from the famous Cape Finisterre after a tough night
of bashing in to a strong sea and 40 knot headwind. The fleet passed through
the front of the depression in the early hours, which was accompanied by a
90 degree wind shift...looked like they were going to have to tack right at
the Cape to pass it.
* "COLD, WET AND PRETTY MISERABLE" were the conditions Ellen described with
a visibly tired voice, but "GOOD MORAL ON BOARD, WE'RE HAPPY TO BE THROUGH
THE DEPRESSION - I THINK WE GOT OFF LIGHTLY"
* SILL has pushed to the front overnight, with the top 4 still very tightly
bunched, and KINGFISHER close to regaining a top 3 position. ADECCO retired
with rudder problems.

LEARNING AND UNDERSTANDING
Cape Finistere - its the north west tip of Spain, and famous for its
windy conditions and rough seas. It is the exit point of the Bay of Biscay,
and as a big land mass on a corner it usually accelerates the wind as it
passes - either from the North East or the South West.
