* VOICE LOWERED, DISAPPOINTMENT CLEAR in the morning call to the boat
as the team on KINGFISHER mull over a failed tactic overnight, which has
left them still stuck this morning with no wind, and over 30 miles behind
the leading group - which now consists of TEMENOS (80 miles off the
leaders yesterday morning!), BOBST and SILL, within 3 miles of each other.

* TEMENOS THE COMEBACK KID - Suisse skipper Dom Wavre is in his element...
having been based in the Med for the much of his preparation work, he knows
only too well how harsh the fickle and difficult to predict winds of the Med
can be. This time its worked for him, as he's gone from the back of the fleet
to the front in just one day.

* ANOTHER PARKING LOT TONIGHT FOR THE WHOLE FLEET? "We certainly hope so,
and this time to our advantage maybe, and it could happen tonight....if it
doesn't we're definitely in trouble!" commented MOLONEY on KINGFISHER this
morning as they struggle to get back in to the breeze that leaders have
touched just a few miles to the south. When we spoke to the team this
morning they had just 3 knots of boatspeed...compared with 13 for the
leaders stretching away all the time. This is where focus, determination
and a good sense of humour count! "The information we had pointed to a
better breeze during the night in the north, nearer the coast...we took
the gybe to get closer to get the coastal effect...when we got there, we
got the reverse - a big hole!"

* OVER 700 MILES STILL TO RUN for the fleet, now reduced in size further
due to the retirement of VIRBAC (Dick, ex-PRB) after discovering damage
to the indexsail track (similar to the problem on KINGFISHER on leg 1)
