REACHING - 14 KNOTS OF SE WIND - 11 KNOTS BOAT SPEED - TEAM COWES 6TH - 169 MILES TO FINISH

IN BRIEF:
* ONE MORE NIGHT FOR TEAM COWES AS RACE DRAWS TO A CLOSE...skippers Nick Moloney and Sam Davies have 169 miles of the 4,340 mile course left to the finish port of Salvador de Bahia. The chances of passing VMI are fading as the sun sets on TEAM COWES for the last time in this race: "I think we have found our place in the fleet and we have to wear it unless something radical happens. This is where we've all ended up in this fleet as a result of the last 18 days of unbelievable racing..."

* SILL GRABS SECOND PLACE FINISHING 20 MINS Ahead OF ECOVER after a match racing duel that has been fought over the last four days. The Anglo-French team of Alex Thomson and Roland Jourdain completed the course in 16 days, 22 hours, 9 mins and 11 secs followed by Mike Golding and Brian Thomspon on Ecover in 16 days, 22 hours, 28 mins and 37 secs.

AUDIO CALL TEAM COWES 1400GMT - 18.11.03 - NICK MOLONEY:
Suspect its going to feel like quite a long way to the finish but we should arrive around sunrise tomorrow. I think we have found our place in the fleet and we have to wear it unless something radical happens. This is where we've all ended up in this fleet as a result of the last 18 days of unbelievable racing - it started well and together we had a good race.
It's absolutely amazing just to see how close it is...50 miles separation between PRB, VMI and then us having just sailed nearly 5,000 miles. The first three boats arrived within 7 hours and looks like the next three will all finish within 7-8 hours of each other as well. Pretty amazing when you consider all the contrary conditions we have had - it totally reflects the high level of competition out here. You don't even see that in Volvo Ocean Race which is fully crewed. I reckon this is the best race that has happened all year in any fleet. When you think of all the mutlis, 60s, 50s embarking on 5000 mile ocean race like this, it's awesome...nothing like that has happened this year in any other way. For me, I will feel a certain amount of sadness that it's over because it has been great and being back at sea is what it is all about. I will only have a week and a half to prepare the boat for the solo race back to France that departs on 30th November. The objective is to make this my 2004 Vendée Globe qualifier. Sam and the team are staying on in Salvador de Bahia to get the boat ready so I hope to get time to get some time to rest.
