Durbs does it again!
At 0908 and 50 seconds (GMT) Durban Clipper sailed across the finish line at the southern end of the Selat Sunda to win race 5 of the Clipper Round The World Race, her second consecutive win of the series. Current overall leaders westernaustralia.com were a mere 8 miles behind and as the breeze fills in after a frustrating few hours of virtually zero boat speed are now likely to finish around 1030 GMT.

Durban gewinnt race 5
If conditions reindex good we should see the next group approaching the finish approximately 8 hours later and with New York only 9 miles ahead of equally placed Liverpool and Victoria the final order is anyone’s guess. Just over 70 miles behind, after Singapore and Qingdao, a constant battle rages between Glasgow and Jersey, with the Scots just having the edge but plenty of time for this to go either way. Although still bringing up the rear, Cardiff have done brilliantly to close the gap between themselves and the leader to less than 300 miles after their extended stop in Fremantle.

It is just over 700 nautical miles from the finish line to the berth in Singapore and we expect the front half of the fleet to approach Singapore on the morning of Monday 16th.
