On Saturday 4 February at approximately 0830 GMT Glasgow reported a loose keel bolt and as a result the Race Team advised the rest of the fleet to check their bolts for movement.
After carrying out an inspection, Victoria and Durban also reported slight movement. Following this discovery of similar problems elsewhere in the fleet, the decision has been taken to divert all ten Clipper 68s to Subic Bay in the Philippines for full investigation and whatever remedial work is necessary.
There is no risk to the yachts and their crews and this decision has been taken as a precautionary measure. The boats are indextaining regular contact with the Race Team as they make their way towards Subic Bay.
The first boats, Durban and Victoria, are expected to arrive in Subic Bay at around 0300 GMT on Sunday 5 February.
