Nine clippers in Jersey, Cardiff expected 1900

With nine of the ten Clippers now moored up in St Helier, crews are enjoying the summer sunshine in Jersey as they await the arrival of Cardiff Clipper. Cardiff retired last night along with Glasgow in light airs, and proceeded to motor sail to Jersey to join the rest of the fleet.

Jersey led the Liverpool 08, Uniquely Singapore and Durban into St Helier this morning after finishing Race 11 in 5th place. Greeted by crowds of well wishers and local media, the Jersey crew were elated to return to their home port after over 30,000 miles of ocean racing. Their 5th place in Race 11 gives them a 3-1/2 point lead over Glasgow.

The crew of Glasgow arrived at 1315 in bright sunshine and said they had a great race before managing to find every wind hole in the Western Approaches.
The crews are now preparing for a reception at the Town Hall followed by a picnic this evening at Jersey Zoo.

Cardiff is expected to arrive at approximately 1900-2000 on Saturday evening, and the crew will be whisked off to join the party at the zoo.

Race 12 from Jersey to Holyhead will start at 1815 on Tuesday 25th.
