The Anglo-Saxons arrive in Bahia 28 minutes apart:
Ecover and Skandia arrive in the midday heat
Pro-Form due to arrive next Open 60 in 6th this afternoon
Mike Golding and Dominique Wavre on Ecover finally arrived just before midday (14:46:45 GMT), two hours later than predicted into Salvador after a tortuous final few miles tacking and gybing in light variable winds in All Saints Bay. No sooner was Ecover across the line when Skandia suddenly sailed out of nowhere at full speed with the new breeze to arrive on the finish line at 12:14:11 local time (15:14:11GMT) just 28 minutes later! That’s a smaller distance between boats than Virbac-Paprec and Sill et Veolia’s finish last night…an incredible result for the Anglo-Australian team of Brian Thompson and Will Oxley, first boat of the second generation Open 60’s and 5th in the Transat Jacques Vabre 2005.
