LATEST EMAIL FROM ONBOARD: " It’s sad to leave Qingdao, we seem to be getting into a rhythm and at each port that we stop at, there is less boat work and more time to see what's going on! So it's almost a shame to get on the road again, we tried to use the fog as an excuse not to leave but decided to get on with it - we have an appointment in Shanghai… The event in Qingdao with the Clipper race fleet was pretty good, after seeing all those guys set off for a very long leg to Canada, we felt pretty lucky to be on a much shorter hop to Shanghai - and heading for warmer weather, their route will be a cold one and likely to be four weeks long! After crossing the start line we are now under full index and solent, with 15 knots of wind from the north-northeast and we are reaching at 9 knots of boatspeed. We will be heading offshore in search of some more breeze and also to keep clear of a huge sand bank that follows the coastline past Shanghai, it’s clearly visible on Google Earth, as well as our excellent electronic charts.
