Clipper Ventures are pleased to return to the London Boat Show in 2007,
where they will be showcasing the Clipper 07-08 Round the World Yacht Race. There will be a stand (B019) on the index boulevard where the public and media can find out all about Clipper’s sixth race around the globe for non-professional sailors.
At 1pm on Friday 5 January Clipper Ventures will use their presence at the Boat Show to launch Clipper Training a new and unique training scheme, in conjunction with Falmouth Marine School, which will offer world-class sail training to the public as part of a degree course. Clipper Ventures already has an excellent reputation in running comprehensive training programmes for crew competing in their races. Now for the first time Clipper is offering the same level of training to the public and thereby offering non-competitors the chance to sail on their 68 foot ocean racing yachts and allowing them to benefit from Clipper’s expertise. Three separate training courses, each with their own area of specialisation, will count as modules towards a two-year foundation course in Global Yacht Operations validated by Plymouth University.
The latest information on the Clipper 07-08 race route and confirmed port stopovers will also be announced at this time.
Clipper’s Crew Day for crew taking part in the 07-08 Race will take place on Saturday 13th January. The crew reception, held in the Waterfront rooms 31 and 32 at the Boat Show, will start at 12 pm. More than 200 people who have already signed up for the 07-08 race are invited to meet the race team, hook up with fellow training crew and meet new crew taking part in the race. The event will consist of a variety of presentations, including one given by Henri Lloyd the official sponsor of the crew clothing. If you wish to attend please contact Crew Manager Carol Blyth, email cblyth@clipper-ventures.com, or Crew Coordinator Thea George, email tgeorge@clipper-ventures.com.
The London Boat Show runs from 5-14 January at the ExCel centre in London docklands. Normal opening times are 10am-7pm except Thursday 11 January, when the Show is open late until 9pm and Sunday 14 January, when it is open from 10am-6pm.
