With 120 skippers lining up for the start,
the 2007 edition of the Transat Jacques Vabre is looking particularly exciting. To enable the general public to follow everything going on in the race, the organisers have joined up with some of France's leading media players.
Once again this year, the TF1 group is setting up its crews to offer some exceptional TV coverage to the eighth edition of the Transat Jacques Vabre in three key stages:

* Before the race…
For 5 days, from 29th October to 2nd November, a short daily programme, «On the way to the Transat», will be broadcast each day at 7.50 p.m. presenting interviews with the skippers taking part in the race.
* The weekend of the start…
On the weekend of the 3rd – 4th November, TF1 will be setting up special broadcasts at 12.50 and at 7.50 p.m. for the start of the race.
* During the race…
«Transat News» broadcast each lunchtime at 12.50 will report on the race from 5th to 19th November.
All of these programmes will moreover be repeated on the French channels, LCI and Eurosport France.
- from Monday 29th October to Friday 2nd November: repeated at noon and at 8 p.m. on LCI and 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Eurosport
- from Monday 5th to Monday 19th November: repeated six times a day on LCI and 4 times a day on Eurosport
On Internet, a mini Transat Jacques Vabre website will be found in the sailing pages of eurosport.fr.
In addition to these arrangements broadcast on these powerful and complementary media, there will be news coverage of the race in the regular news bulletins on TF1 and LCI.
PLANÈTE THALASSA
Planète Thalassa, France's leading channel specialising in everything to do with the sea and getting away, is setting up some special programming to keep you informed about this legendary race.
They are also planning a presentation of the Transat with various themes.
* Before the race:
During the week before the race in « Transat News » at 8.40 in the evening on Planète Thalassa, there will be a report on those taking part, the favourites, the newcomers and the different classes of boat.
* On the weekend of the start …
On 3rd November at 8.40 p.m. on Planète Thalassa, a special edition of the Daily Show will offer a detailed presentation of the start for the monohulls and on 4th November for the multihulls.
* During the race…
From 5th November and up to the finish at 8.40 in the evening, you will be able to hear all the news about the transatlantic race, about the competitors, the action and the rankings… [repeated at around 10.40 p.m.]
Finally, you will be able to see the best of the Transat Jacques Vabre in a special 26-minute long film to be broadcast in December on Planète Thalassa.
* Specific magazines on the whole network
Magazine slot from 7.15 to 8 in the evening with the news team for the special Renault day with the launch of the Laguna 3.
On Thursday 1st November between 12.30 and 2, the network programme, «1h30 Service Compris », presented by Alexandra Dayan, Ersin Leibowitch and the team of France Bleu Haute-Normandie on the whole of the France Bleu network.
Two special lunchtime editions of « Bienvenue à bord », the network magazine of the sea, on 28th October and 4th November from 12.45 to 12.59 presented by Jérôme Lebreton with teams from France Bleu Breiz Izel and France Bleu Haute-Normandie
* Coverage by the news team
Before the start, from 26th October to 4th November, France Bleu Haute Normandie will be at the heart of the event with several key broadcasts.
Then, once the competitors are underway, listeners to France Bleu will be able to follow the race each day with in particular, each evening a summary of the day in the Sports News round-up presented by Jocelyne Jean at 7.15.
THE OFFICIAL PROGRAMME
80,000 copies will be distributed free of charge on 22nd October with the free daily, METRO and will be made available around the race site. The official Transat Jacques Vabre race programme, published by Rivacom on behalf of Pen Duick and edited by Viamédia – a presentation of the competitors, a look back at previous editions, and useful information –will allow the general public to be right at the heart of the event.
