Aviva - Message from the boat
It was decided aboard Aviva today that we will never be going to Madeira or the Canary Islands ever again.
We have been scarred for life now and we still have the Cape Verde Islands to go. After last nights difficulty getting past Madeira we were experiencing strange winds from the West as we passed the Canaries and then today at first light we sailed south. This led us into our own private wind hole. We sat motionless looking at three big fat zeros on the instruments waiting to move again. Patience and perseverance slowly led to Aviva slipping through the water again under spinnaker. After a few false starts we are now moving again, preying victim to every cloud that passes with some rain spots and also a change in pressure and direction but we are fully focused on recovering the disastrous start to the second week we are having.
