"Yesterday morning I continued on my mission and found the dead bird! - YUCK DISGUSTING YUCK AAARRRRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!! I don't know what kind of bird it was, because it was well and truly dead. To avoid touching it (like a true girl) I used the pliers from the tool box (sorry guys!), and the bird has been buried at sea.
Then, cleaning up! With the help of some Ecover products, I started a thorough cleaning session. I poured in loads of washing up liquid and water, and let it do its thing, helped by the movement of the boat. ROXY will soon be smelling of flowers again! I also checked the appendages with the endoscope and discovered that we had some rope caught on the keel. So we socked the spinnaker and backed down to get rid of it.

We are now approaching the Cape Verde Islands, and potential traps in the form of wind shadows from the islands. For the time being, we keep gybing for the best course, as the wind is very shifty!
I am looking ahead and Generali is not far away! It motivates us all the more to keep trimming the boat for maximum speed to try and catch them. as well as trying to escape from Maisonneuve, who must be hunting the Pink boat.
Further ahead, there's a fantastic fight for first place going on, nowhere near the conventional route! Jeanne and I were laughing about this yesterday - we remember our "special" TJV weather lesson this winter, during which our "professor" informed us that it NEVER pays to go east of the Cape Verdes!!!! We shall see."
