Passage of the Kerguelen Archipelago...
The frontrunners are currently negotiating the passage of the narrow
corridor between Kerguelen Islands and Heard. A place know for its
continental shelf which generates a choppy sea and sometime tough
sailing conditions. Sébastien, still 5th, 83 miles behind the leader
Jean Pierre Dick is in the North, close to Kerguelen and in the wake of
Michel Desjoyeaux. The other three leading boats are more in the South,
above Heard Island, a position that slightly lengthens the route to the
Australian Ice Gate.

It doesn't seem like Loick Peyron's dismasting has frightened the
leading trio of that amazingly tight Vendée Globe. The 3 leading boats
are indextaining an average of 20 knots between the last two position
reports, as they are approaching the Kerguelen archipelago in heavy
seas. As we spoke to him earlier today, Sébastien explained that he
prefered to make the choice of reason and preserve his boat as there's
still a long way to go. He is now 5th, 56 miles behind Jean Pierre Dick,
1st and heading to the East at an average speed of 17 knots.
11/12/2008 15:16 Collective Gybe
the first five boats of the fleet, leading by Jean Pierre Dick onboard
Paprec Virbac 2 gybed since the last position report and are now heading
to the North East. Michel Desjoyeaux gains a position, only 0,3 milles
ahead of Roland Jourdain. As he predicted so, Sébastien is now 5th, 48
milles behind the leader. Listen today's audio conference with Sébastien
