24/12/2008 07:38 Parallel routes
On a parallel route with Le Cam, Sébastien is further north, in
Jourdain's (2nd) wake while VM Materiaux (4th) is following Desjoyeaux
(leading) further south. Speeds are still high and the gap with the
leader is now down to less than 140 miles while a tough 24 hours are
expected due to an active low pressure system.
23/12/2008 15:03 Sébastien caught speeding
With 19.4 knots over the past hour, Sébastien certainly has been
stirring up the waves, benefiting from perfect conditions as he pointed
out when we called him today. Now just over 150 miles away from
Desjoyeaux (against 200 miles yesterday), BT will try and get as close
as possible to the leaders in the coming hours. "I'll probably be less
than 100 miles behind Foncia tomorrow", he explained at 12h00 GMT.
23/12/2008 10:30 Slow at the front... fast at the back
A bad day in perspective for the 2 leaders Desjoyeaux and Jourdain, who
are slowed down by the ridge of the low pressure in the South of New
Zealand. This situation makes the pursuers happy as they are coming back
quickly on the frontrunners. Over the past 24 hours, Vincent Riou (PRB)
currently in sixth place, 485.1 miles from the leader, sailed the
greatest distance towards the finish, he covered 368.3 miles.
