Rudder damage on Cheminées Poujoulat
Bernard Stamm has just alerted his team that he’s diverting to Australia
after discovering he has rudder problems. "The rudder bearings have worn
abnormally and could break at any moment, making it impossible to manoeuvre
the boat. I think it’s due to a flaw in the material, because there’s no
reason for it to wear to this extent at this stage in a circumnavigation."
He is under two reefs and staysail and is making for Fremantle.
