Bouwe Bekking and his Telefonica Blue team ended Ericsson 4's domination
of the Volvo Ocean Race round the world by winning a closely fought third leg from Cochin, India to Singapore. The Spanish yacht crossed the finish line first at 1451 GMT (2251 local time) on Monday, while Ericsson 4, led by two-time Olympic gold medallist Torben Grael and winners of the first two legs, came in fourth. The leg victory gave Telefonica Blue eight valuable points, putting them on 30.5 points in the overall standings, four-and-a-half points behind leaders Ericsson 4.
