ZBIGNIEW ‘GUTEK’ GUTKOWSKI FINISHES FOURTH IN VELUX 5 OCEANS SPRINT FOUR
Polish racer arrives in Charleston, South Carolina
POLISH solo sailor Zbigniew ‘Gutek’ Gutkowski has finished fourth in the fourth sprint of the VELUX 5 OCEANS round the world yacht race.
The 36-year-old sailed into Charleston, South Carolina, today after racing more than 5700 nautical miles from Punta del Este in Uruguay. Gutek crossed the finish line in Charleston Harbor at 01.20am local time following 38 days, 13 hours and 20 minutes at sea.
During a difficult leg Gutek was forced to stop in Fortaleza, Brazil for 11 days to repair damage to his boat Operon Racing and allow a badly broken rib time to heal.
