Race 3, Day 16: The final few miles
The last few miles into Cape Town for Mission Performance and Qingdao have been a painfully slow experience.
Light, fickle winds and fog has hindered progress towards the Race 3 finish line for the final two yachts.
Mission Performance skipper Matt Mitchell said it had been a frustrating 24 hours.
“The wind completely died yesterday lunchtime and hasn't really come back since. This coupled with heavy fog has seen some pretty frustrating sailing.
“Now with 28 miles to go, we still have 24 hours at present speed. On the plus side we managed to get a very large portion of our jobs list done, as well as some of the deep clean.”
Thankfully the wind has now freshened and Mission Performance will finish imminently.

The Daily Update will resume on 4 November when Race 4 to Albany, Western Australia starts from Cape Town.
