The Clipper Round the World Yacht Race is proud to return to New York for the eighth time in this tenth edition of the race. The yachts are scheduled to arrive between Sunday 12 – Tuesday 14 June and will berth at Liberty Landing Marina until Monday 20 June. Located at the mouth of the Hudson River in New Jersey’s Liberty State Park, Liberty Landing Marina is easily accessible by ferry from the World Financial Center in downtown Manhattan, as well as by the PATH train or Light Rail in Jersey City. The marina is home to two top-notch restaurants and offers free dock-and-dine for a two-hour visit. Boaters wishing to spend more time are welcome to rent a slip for a few days and enjoy all the amenities the marina offers. There are laundry and shower facilities on site, a tenant lounge, wifi, pump-out, a 24 hour fuel dock, and a full service maintenance department with a 60 ton travel lift. During the stopover there are opportunities for the public to tour the yachts, meet race crew, attend public talks and even participate in sailing experience days on these magnificent ocean racing yachts. Race Village 1000–1900, Thursday 16 – Monday 20 June: Open daily and free to attend, the Race Village will feature a wide range of attractions for all age groups including opportunities to see the Clipper Race yachts and attend public talks by race crew. Become an Ocean Racer for the Day 1330-1800, Saturday 18 June:Exclusively for those who dare to take on the Race of Their Lives, join us on board a stripped out ocean racing yacht for a 4 hour sail on the Hudson River and become a Clipper Race Crew member for the day. This will give you an opportunity to sail on board a Clipper 70 before deciding whether to sign up for a leg, combine several or complete a full circumnavigation. NEW YORK TOURIST INFORMATION Experimental, edgy, fast-paced and urban, pleasure seekers will find it all in New York. From the traditionally Jewish Lower East Side to Lower Manhattan’s Chinatown, the Upper East Side and the bohemian areas of SoHo and Tribeca, there is much to explore. Each of New York City’s rapidly-changing neighbourhoods has its own distinct flavour. The world’s largest selection of bars, restaurants, galleries, museums and shops are found here and you can be sure they will be global trendsetters. The Met, the MoMA and the Guggenheim are New York’s most famous museums, but in Chelsea and the Lower East Side, you will find some of the newest artists exhibiting after their famous Thursday night opening parties. New York is all about living the high life - with yoga, outdoor cinema screenings, street food festivals and city glamping all taking place on rooftops. Skyscrapers and buildings such as the Empire State Building and Rockerfella Plaza are open until late into the evening for panoramic vistas. And one of the city’s newest attractions is the High Line, a former rail track turned urban park 30ft above street level. Running from the Meatpacking District to the northern edge of Chelsea, the 1.45 mile-long walkway and gardens gives walkers the chance to escape the hustle and bustle below.
