62ND GIRAGLIA ROLEX CUP: UPDATE & VIDEO
6 hours into the 241-nm offshore race, the Giraglia Rolex Cup fleet is making slow progress from Saint-Tropez towards the Giraglia rock. At 18:30 CEST, the Italian yacht Robertissima III held a small lead over Esimit Europa 2, with just under 100-nm to run to the mythic rock located off the top of Corsica. Meanwhile, all but a handful of the slower yachts have rounded the mark off Cavalaire-sur-mer after a difficult afternoon.
The leading yachts will still be hoping to find sufficient pressure to reach the Giraglia before dawn tomorrow morning, and Monte-Carlo later in the afternoon. The weather holds all the cards for the moment.
