NEWS FROM NORTH SAILS
Big winds and great sails power four world record breaking times
in the Sevenstar Round Britain and Ireland Race

For teams competing in this year's sprint around Britain and Ireland it was a fast and furious ride. And for four boats all powered by North Sails there were world record breaking times. Musandam – Oman Sail, Abu Dhabi, Artemis Ocean Racing and SCA all broke records on their completion of the race showing that some great teamwork, well prepared boats and world class equipment can make all the difference. Whilst all the teams in the race had 'baton down the hatches' conditions, for the Omani trimaran it was extreme to the max with the boat consistently pushing 30 knots for the majority of their record-breaking ride. As a result they set both a new outright World Record for the Round Britain and Ireland course and a new race record for the Sevenstar Round Britain and Ireland Race.

North Sails would like to congratulate all those that took part in the race with particular mention to the record-breaking teams on MOD 70 Musandam - Oman Sail (powered by 3DL 860), VO65 Azzam (powered by North Sails 3Di), Open 60 Artemis Ocean Racing (powered by North Sails 3DL), VO65 Team SCA (powered by North 3Di), and finally topping the leaderboard, the overall IRC race winner, Ker 52 Varuna is also powered by North Sails 3Di.

NORTH SAILS IN THE VOLVO OCEAN RACE | #4: PHIL HARMER A sailmaker-turned-sailor, Phil Harmer has found himself a veteran of three Volvo Ocean Race campaigns - reigning victorious in 2012 with Groupama 4, and now entering his fourth aboard Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing's Azzam.
