Day two at the ISAF Sailing World Cup – Melbourne

South to sou’westerly winds 10-15 knots locally reaching up to 20 knots this afternoon means some thrilling action is on the cards later in the day at the ISAF Sailing World Cup – Melbourne.

The bay kicks up correspondingly to the breeze, adding another dimension to competitors’ boat speed and handling.

Most of the Olympic and Paralympic and some of the invited classes are on the water starting from 12pm including Men’s 470, Women’s 470, Finn, Laser, Women’s Laser Radial, Men’s Laser Radial, 49er, 49erFX, Open 49FX, Men’s RS:X, Women’s RS:X, Bic Techno, Nacra 17, Liberty, Skud 18 and 2.4mR.

Race management teams are setting up courses on four of the six dedicated Port Phillip areas and the competition is divided into two starts, midday and 3pm.

Tonight’s feature social event, the Sailing World Cup dinner, is another sell-out. Nathan Outteridge, Glenn Ashby, Andrew McDougall, Ben Morrison-Jack, Glide Free Design are some of the big names joining the Victorian sailing community to chat about all things foiling.
