The 47 Trofeo Princesa Sofia IBEROSTAR will be held in the bay of Palma de Mallorca from 25th March to 2nd April, organised by Club Nàutic S’Arenal, Club Marítimo San Antonio de la Playa and Real Club Náutico de Palma. Official racing will take place from Monday 28th March to 2nd April.
The novelty this year is that the Mallorca regatta is an Olympic qualifier event for the Rio 2016 Olympics, besides being a trial event for the selection of the Olympic teams of several countries.
The participation of around one thousand sailors from over 50 nations is expected with some of the big names of the sailing elite in the final countdown to Rio 2016. Ten Olympic Classes, the Paralympic Classes and Dragon as invited Class will participate in Palma.
