And so it begins…...
With the race boats now arriving, the sun shining, and Baltic Sprint Cup 2007 flags flapping in the breeze out front of Bank DnB NORD’s Copenhagen headquarters, the stage is set for another exciting Baltic Sprint Cup event.
The final countdown to the race is on. The Baltic Sprint Cup 2007 registration desk, located on the ground floor of DnB NORD’s headquarters, opened at 3 PM this afternoon (Wednesday, July 18). The desk will be open again from 9 AM tomorrow (Thursday, July 19) until the check-in deadline at 15:00.
The sails will unfurl Friday, July 20 as the regatta departs Copenhagen for Sassnitz, Germany – the first leg of the 5-leg race that will eventually conclude in Parnu, Estonia on August 2.
“I would like to personally thank the City of Copenhagen and the Port of Copenhagen for hosting the fleet once again and for helping us out as we prepared for the event”, says enthusiastic Race Organiser Henning Rocholl of SAIL & RACE. “We are thrilled to have 26 yachts with around 200 sailors participating this year. The fact they have chosen to take the time to participate in the Baltic Sprint Cup – many of them for a second and third time - is a fantastic indication of the calibre of event we have put together.”
The first 9 yachts are already moored at the docks in front of the DnB NORD headquarters at Amerikakaj on Dampfærgevej in Copenhagen.

“The opportunity for participants to visit all of the Baltic countries, along with Poland, Germany and Denmark, really makes the event something special and unique”, notes Race Director Allan Green of Sail and Race. “As a challenging race with great stopovers and parties along the way, it is a fantastic combination that makes for a highly rewarding experience.”
“The Baltic Sea, as a natural infrastructure connecting the countries of North-East Europe, and something that each of our countries shares, really is underused in my opinion”, says Bank DnB NORD CEO and Baltic Sprint Cup Chairman Sven Herlyn. “For me, the Baltic Sprint Cup is a way to bring people together by sailing this great sea. I believe it’s a big reason why the race continues to attract so many yachts and sailors each year.”
On Friday, July 20, breakfast for all race participants will be served in the Bank DnB Nord cafeteria from 8 to 9 AM, followed by the Skippers’ meeting at 9 AM.
