German Tornado Grand Prix- Day Three, No Wind!
At the 3rd day of the German Tornado Grand Prix we had not enough wind to continue with regular Championship racing. Mostly light winds between 0 and 5 knots made it impossible to start a fair race. After one try in wich we saw windshifts of 180 degrees, the race committee of the Lindau Sailing Club cancelled racing for the rest of the day.

Later in the afternoon, increasing breeze was found just around the peer next to the Lindau Sailing Club. Almost stable winds made it possible to start three speedraces just some meters away from the shore.

Eight boats in each group were fighting for the best position at the starting line. Some teams with gennacker and some without. In 5-8 knots of wind we had amazing action and the commentator at shore heated up the situations on the water for the spectators.
“We were able to hear the applause for the stunts, we made at the mark in front of the pier” said Nahid Gaebler, who worked hard to get the gennacker in the best shape for acceleration. “Because the winds were not so strong, we were able to make a tack with the gennacker around the second mark. This is the first time we did this. It is a radical new style of sailing and we enjoy it a lot”

“It was a complete new experience, and we showed the audience that we are innovating the sport of sailing” Roland Gaebler said, who won the premiere with his wife Nahid.

Next step for the Speedsailing is Travemünde at the 24th and 25th July in the river Trave after the official races of the Tornado World Championship.
