Kiel, Germany - 15.06.12
Audi Sailing Team powered by ALL4ONE taking part for the first time to "Kieler Woche"!
For the second event on its 2012 season's programme, Audi Sailing Team powered by
ALL4ONE will take part for the first time since the team was created to "Kieler
Woche" (Kiel Week), in Germany, June 16-24. It is indeed an important event, as
the team is bound to the Kieler Yacht Club and the Cercle de la Voile de Paris.
After a record timing delivery by truck through the European roads (between Barcelona
and Kiel), the Shore Team has been able to prepare the boat, and everything's ready
to take part to that huge sailing event, starting with a training day on Friday
15th.
The « Kieler Woche » is the biggest regatta in Europe with more than 2000 boats
and it is one of the most important stages for the sailors preparing the Olympic
Games. Audi, which is the title Partner of the French-German team, is also sponsor
of the event and of the Audi Sailing Team Germany, which gathers the most promising
young German Olympic sailing talents. It became evident that Audi Sailing Team powered
by ALL4ONE's flagship should come to sail in German waters to race against the best
European keelboat sailors, but should also offer the opportunity to young talents
to sail on such a large high-tech yacht.
Stephane Kandler, ALL4ONE's CEO, explains the goals of the week for the team: "We
will have some new German Olympic crew members sailing alongside our usual core
crew. We will keep on improving manoeuvres and developing boat and sails on very
different type of race courses: offshore, inshore, windward-leeward races, etc.
Our skipper Jochen Schümann and new German navigator, Boris Herrmann, who started
in Barcelona in May, are used to the place and their complementary experience will
be important arguments in such a varied competition. This long regatta of 10 days
will be a perfect laboratory for our ultimate tests before our return to the Mediterranean
regattas Royal Cup and Copa del Rey, where we will face again our usual TP52 competitors.
Last but not least, I want to thank particularly our shore team, who has succeeded
to organize the 2000 kilometres road transport in such a short time!"
Jochen Schümann, Sports Director and Skipper concludes: "We are looking forward
to present Audi Sailing Team powered by ALL4ONE first time ever at Kiel Week. While
sailing in all scheduled races for offshore classes, we will integrate guests of
our index partner Audi and young German sailors in our race crew.
This will be a special challenge to develop good crew work on board every day again
- I hope weather conditions will not be too tough!
I'm sure we will present the fascination of sailing in a very attractive moment
for guests, media, and young sailors. Our Kiel Week will be concluded with a Charity
sailing program on Sunday."
