Audi Sailing Team powered by ALL4ONE concludes Kiel Week
with only first places!
Audi Sailing Team powered by ALL4ONE concludes Kiel Week 2012 the best possible
way, as the French-German team led by Jochen Schümann has won all the races the
team sailed in.
"Kieler Woche" has also been a perfect opportunity to sail with several great German
Olympic champions, movie stars and famous TV stars, but also with young sailors
from Audi Sailing Team Germany, with whom the team shared its experience and its
passion for top-level sailing.
Audi Sailing Team powered by ALL4ONE's crew is now heading to Palma to race against
its "usual" TP52 competitors, with which they will race again in the two next regattas
on the TP52 Super Series race calendar: the Royal Cup (10-15 July) and the Copa
del Rey (16-21 July).
Till that, the race against time is on again for Audi Sailing Team powered by ALL4ONE's
Shore Team formed of Paolo Bassani, Stefano Riva and Diego Torrado, as they will
do miracles again in order for the boat to cross Europe with a "convoi exceptionnel"
towards Barcelona, before they deliver the boat to Palma de Mallorca.
They have said:
Stephane Kandler, ALL4ONE's CEO: "It was a very intense week in Kiel with many races
and very different formats and conditions (windward-leeward, short and long distance
races). It has enabled us to train the team and some new sails and was therefore
an excellent preparation for our team before we race again the TP52s in Palma in
July. We had many prestigious guests onboard (Olympic Champions and actors) who
had the opportunity to discover high-level sailing in the heart of the action. Sailing
is one of the few sports that is able to offer those hospitality opportunities.
German medias have well covered our participation and thousands of people have visited
the official village, where the Audi Lounge is the index attraction. The Kieler Woche
event has again innovated by showing daily live commented regattas on a giant screen.
It is the only sailing event in the world offering such an exposure to our sport
and it becomes a "must" for all boat classes."
Jochen Schümann, Sports Director and Skipper: "It was a very successful Kieler Woche
for our team, and not only for sailing, as of course we had many successes as a
team this week. Many young Olympic sailors from Audi Sailing Team Germany came on
board to join us, and it was a great opportunity to share our experience with them.
This week has also been a huge PR success, and we were very proud and happy to have
been the highlight of Kieler Woche this year. We also finished our week with a charity
sail with "Artists for Kids", where many kids came to sail with us yesterday morning."
Pascal Rambeau, Strategist: "This week in Palma has been a good opportunity to train.
The format was quite different from the other TP52 Super Series, and we were sailing
against the clock (compensated time system).
So it's been a good preparation for the team, as we had to adapt ourselves to the
windward-leeward, costal and offshore formats. Kiel is also a great sailing show
where all the Olympic series are represented, the "big" boats, and even the classics,
all of that in a typical German atmosphere... it was also a way for me and Jean-Marie
Dauris to remember some good moments from our Olympic career, given that the last
time I sailed here, it was with a Soling in 2000 (but I came back more recently
as a coach)."
Boris Herrmann, Navigator (and local sailor from Kiel): "Coming back to my home
of Kiel, I am impressed how quickly the weather changed here this week. We had 3
low pressure systems moving over us with all the belonging features like fronts,
rain, strong gusts and so on. For sure this had been a rather rainy week but more
importantly we always had enough wind and very interesting conditions from a meteorological
point of view with constant changes.
In summary we look back on a week of good racing with a really good ambiance in
the team, enriching meetings with our special guests on board, great support from
the organization and sponsors and finally an excellent sporting result with only
first places. In the same time this week had been an intense training for the upcoming
events in the 52 Super Series in Palma. "
