In less than one week, one team will be crowned the 2013 Extreme Sailing Series™ champions, and after a hard fought season that has seen some of the closest Stadium Racing between the elite level teams in the seven year history of the Series, it will come down to four days of racing at Act 8 Florianópolis presented by Land Rover, to determine the outcome. Sailing and sports fans can follow the action as it unfolds, through live video streaming, the official Series social media sites Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube, live reporting and dynamic SAP sailing analytics.

ONLINE Racing takes place over four days from the 14-17 November kicking off with a day of open water racing and the official skippers press conference before moving into stadium mode. The Extreme Sailing Series website homepage will go into race mode on day one and will aggregate all key content including live video, results, news and official images as well as an interactive live blog where fans can leave their comments.

From the 15 November, the ‘Stadium Racing’ will be streamed live to the website with expert commentary from sailing expert and Land Rover global ambassador Hannah White, and analytics from technical partner SAP. Timings subject to change:

Friday 15th November: 1600-1700 BRST / 1800-1900 GMT Saturday 16th November: 1600-1700 BRST / 1800-1900 GMT Series finale, Sunday 17th November: 1530-1630 BRST / 1730-1830 GMT

ON YOUR MOBILE WITH PLAYUP Extreme Sailing Series fans around the world will for the first time be able to follow live coverage of the racing via world leading social sports app PlayUp. PlayUp is a mobile-based social network driven by sport, which allows fans to engage with friends and digital content around live sports. With over 50,000 live games a year, instant messaging, private social networking and unrivalled content, PlayUp is the leading service of its kind.

This is the first time live sailing will be available on the platform globally, allowing fans of the elite level Stadium Racing series to interact with their friends whilst keeping up to date with the sailing action. As part of its continued growth, PlayUp has identified sailing as a key sport and this initial activity with the Extreme Sailing Series will hopefully be the start of a much wider spectrum of live sailing coverage. ONSITE The free to enter public Race Village is located at El Trapiche al Beira-Mar where the Extreme 40 fleet will race close to shore on the public days, providing the perfect viewing platform for ‘Stadium Racing’.

The public Race Village will provide a host of entertainment throughout the day including music, food stalls, a resident DJ, live commentary in English and Portuguese throughout the racing, a Laser, Optimist and Snipe boat class competition, an outdoor gym, Range Rover terrapod car displays as well as a zone dedicated to children. The on-water entertainment will be complemented by the index warm up act, the NeilPryde Windsurf Racing Series.
