Dennis Conner sailed into New York City yesterday with his two Formula-1 racing boats.
Starting at 8 a.m. yesterday morning, Dennis and group of 20 lucky sailors delivered his 2 boats from Stamford, CT to North Cove in Lower Manhattan.
The weather was good for a spring delivery with a fresh northwest breeze and mild temperatures. The delivery was completed in less than 6 hours.
When Dennis arrived in the harbor, he sailed out to the Statue of Liberty to pay his respects. Then he raced towards the skyline of Manhattan and entered North Cove under sail power. After completing a few figure eight turns within the marina, he brought his "Stars & Stripes" boat up to the dock without engine and to the amazement of the spectators who had gathered. "Mr. America's Cup" had arrived!
Dennis' two Formula 1 race boats, one blue and one white, will be docked at North Cove throughout the 2007 sailing season. You can come down to see these thoroughbred sailing machines.
The boats will be available to corporations for team building and client entertainment. Preliminary details are at www.MrAmericasCup.com
So if you or your co-workers get caught up in some "America's Cup" fever this summer, now you can organize your own America's Cup sailing experience right here in New York Harbor.
For sailors and sailing enthusiasts here in New York City, it will be a great summer!
