I've always felt July 4th comes too early. One second we are dodging rain drops in the spring and then next, summer is here at full speed. Where did the time go in between. But when July 4th rolls around, the only thing to do is abandon your cares and let summer sweep you away. Sail more!

Next week is one of our harbor's big charity events. It's the 4th Annual Hedge Fund Regatta. Sponsors are Griswold, Hinckley & Institutional Investor. This event has grown so big that it now is raced over several days. The first two preliminary regattas are July 12 & 16. The top half of each fleet advances to the Championship on August 13. Twenty-nine teams are currently entered. You can see who will compete at http://myc.org/Racing/Special%20Races/hedge%20fund.htm. Last year, this event was covered by the NYT Deal Book and Forbes.com.
All of this is for an important cause. The NY Harbor Sailing Foundation is building plans for a dinghy sailing facility in NY Harbor which will benefit adults and kids. If the regatta is a successful fundraiser, we may see the start of dinghy sailing in 2008!

You can watch the Hedge Fund Regatta. Tickets have just gone on sale. Spectators will be able to see all the action from the floating clubhouse in the harbor. It's one of NYC's best harbor locations. You can cheer on your favorite team, enjoy the harbor views, sip a drink and listen to the music. If you can't get down to race next week, you can still go sailing on Dennis Conner's Formula 1 sailboats which will be here this summer. They are super exciting and fast 53-foot race boats. These are excellent boats for team building and client entertainment. More details are at www.mramericascup.com/corp/corp_sailing.htm There is also a PowerPoint which you can show around your office. Just ask and I will send it to you.

So what else is happening in and around the harbor? The Teen Sailing Program begins next week with 3 boats of students. www.sailmanhattan.com/teen_sailing.htm New programs start every week. A great experience for your teen which builds confidence and helps them fall even more in love with the city.
