This Week in Sailing - September 28, 2007
******************
The 2007 sailing season is slowly coming to an end, but there is one more big event - the first New York Classic Week. It will be October 3-7. Full details are at www.nyharborsailing.com/classic/default.htm. You can log on, see the schedule of events and also see pictures of boats which have already registered to participate.
******************
You can participate in New York Classic Week by sailing aboard the Tall Ship Pride of Baltimore II.
Haven't you always wanted to sail on a tall ship? Here is your opportunity! There are 37 spots to sail in each race. Tickets are $125 per person. Get one now before they run out.
The sailing opportunities are:
Wednesday, October 3, Introduction to the Harbor Race. Depart at 11 a.m. and return at 4:30 p.m.
Friday, October 5, The Skyline Race. Depart at 10 a.m. and return at 2:30 p.m.
Saturday, October 6, The Statue of Liberty Race. Depart at 11 a.m. and return at 3:45 p.m.
You do not need to know anything about racing to participate. The Pride II will be sailed by her captain and crew. And Classic regattas are less racing than expressions of beauty.
Details and tickets are at http://myc.org/Racing/pride%20II.htm
******************
And from now until Classic Week begins, Pride II will be doing a series of public sails in the harbor. The days and time of these sails are:
Saturday, 9/29, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Sunday, 9/30, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Monday, 10/1, 1 to 4 p.m.
You can purchase a ticket for one of these sails by calling 410-539-1151 (normal office hours) or 410-207-8791 (ship phone when office closed). Please have your credit card ready as you need to purchase tickets rather than reserve spots (limited space).
