Sail-World.com Newsletter.... The latest News - UK, Europe, World incorporating Sailweb
=========================================================================
It's a New Year and a new British challenge for the America's Cup. Origin, backed by Sir Keith Mills, broke cover at the London Boat Show with the announcement of a new GBR team in the next two America's Cup events.
Sir Keith seems convinced that interest levels are such that the team can become self-sustaining, so will we to see the Cup morph into the Formula 1 circuit of sailing, with permanent teams competing at a regular number of venues?
The build-up to the 2007 America's Cup has included some out-of-base events and with the proposed challenge cycle reduced to two years it seems there will be plenty of work for designers, crews, trucking companies etc.
All the sailing action is down-under but the UK Spring events are already sending out their race notices and the Extreme 40 catamaran class has announced a new european circuit.
Good Sailing
