Heavy Winds at Seawind F18 Worlds
The firmly established ridge on the Queensland coast continues to deliver strong winds to the Capricorn Coast. Today's race has been blown out. Four races are planned for the next two days. Today has been spent around the 22,000 acre Rydges Capricorn Resort with the two golf courses filled with sailors, as are the swimming pools. There are impromptu soccer matches between Dutch and French teams currently in progress. The archery range is fully booked all afternoon. Sailors are taking full advantage of the Resort's many facilities and there seems to be steady traffic of sailors buying Slam Regatta gear this afternoon too....

Dodgems in the Doldrums but Stamm powers on
Bernard Stamm has not been having an easy time of it as he works his way into the Doldrums. Still, he's managed to hold his own against Koji Shiraishi in second place, with Cheminees-Poujoulat sitting on a very comfortable cushion of 1935 miles' lead, according to the 1500 hours position report today. This is partly because the Spirit of Yukoh has been contending with northerly winds, making for bouncy progress in the 15-knot breezes....
