PSP Southampton Boat Show Opens
The 2008 PSP Southampton Boat Show was officially opened today at 11am by
the highly successful British Olympic sailing team. Skandia Team GBR
members Ben Ainslie, Paul Goodison, Iain Percy, Andrew Simpson, Sarah Ayton,
Sarah Webb and Pippa Wilson cruised into the Show on board Mike Golding¹s
ECOVER 3 yacht to launch celebrations for the 40th Show.
The PSP Southampton Boat Show, in association with ITV Meridian, will run
until the 21 September in Mayflower Park, and is simply the place to be to
explore all the latest in sailing, boating and watersports.
Skandia Team GBR were joined on the Main Stage Powered by Fairline by
boating and TV legends from the last four decades including Sir Robin Knox
Johnston, Kate O¹Mara, Lady Pippa Blake, Steve Curtis MBE and Dame Ellen
MacArthur. After the Show was officially opened, the Main Stage Powered
by Fairline featured a retro-style fashion show with live music from 80s
tribute group Infantasia.
Andrew Williams, Managing Director of NBS, commented: ³Seeing Skandia Team
GBR sail into the Show aboard Mike Golding¹s ECOVER 3 yacht was a real high
point for us at National Boat Shows and was the perfect way to launch this
landmark 40th Show.²
