Fedor Konyoukhov was born in 1951.
Fedor Konyuokhov, 49 years old, is a professional adventurer,
and ocean racing makes up but a small part of his
accomplishments. A man honoured with the ‘Order of Friendship of Nations’
by UNESCO, Fedor has also ascended the seven peaks (highest peaks on
each continent), 4 of them solo, completed expeditions to both the North
and South Poles solo as well, and cycled across Russia.
Participation in this extreme solo circumnavigation race, the Vendee Globe
2000, will be Fedor Konyukhov’s fourth round the world voyage – his
previous attempts include the Around Alone race in 1998/9, in which he
finished but wasn’t classed. Fedor Konyoukhov is the only Russian to enter
the race with his boat ‘Modern University for the Humanities’, boat number
8848 – why? Because it is the altitude of the highest peak in the world,
Mount Everest.
Fedor reveals that his reason for taking part in this race is to understand
why everyone else is doing it, and he has formed in his head already the
next adventures: an Around the World trip in a maxi-multihull, and then a
Desert crossing – this man will not give up!
Worth visiting, in 3 languages including English, and in his own words
explains Fedor’s motivations and philosophy behind the incredible
adventures. For this man, life itself is his preparation for the Vendée Globe
2000.
