FOUR BOAT RACE FOR 3RD PLACE
EMMA RICHARDS ON PINDAR RACES FOR THE PODIUM AND SETS SOLO FEMALE MONOHULL TRANSAT RECORD
GARNIER - 0630 : PINDAR - 1000 : TISCALI - 1200 : HEXAGON - AFTERNOON
Torbay, England, 28th September – There is a fascinating race taking place for the coveted 3rd place on the podium in Leg one of Around Alone. At 1735hrs UTC this evening, British skipper Emma Richards had shaken up the order yet again by overtaking Italian Simone Bianchetti on Tiscali. Earlier on today she overtook Graham Dalton on Hexagon and she is now threateningly close to Belgian Patrick de Radigues on Garnier, who will be forced to tack South again to round the point of land before coming into the finish. Her more Southerly position could be the pay off for Emma to finally win through to third place… If that wasn’t enough to keep the adrenalin going, Emma is also soon to set a new female solo monohull West to East transatlantic record as she passes the Lizard Point tonight. Isabelle Austissier is the only woman to have set a West to East transat record in a trimaran.
