Cape Town, South Africa - 11th December. As if the best was kept to last, the most spectacular of all the arrivals into Cape Town at the end of Leg 2 of Around Alone was Italian circumnavigator Simone Bianchetti on Open 60 Tiscali. The early evening air threw a soft pink light on table Mountain and reflected on the sails as Simone sailed Tiscali across the finish line in a freshening breeze at 17:58:59 GMT (15:58:59 GMT). Sixth place was not the position Simone was looking for when he set sail from Torbay 57 days ago, however when he saw all the other 11 skippers assembled on the pontoon together applauding him on his arrival his first comment was "Well, if this is what it's like when you come in last, it's fantastic!". And so for 3 complete days the whole fleet is together in Cape Town, South Africa before setting off on Leg 3 to Tauranga, New Zealand at 1200hrs on 14th December.

* John Dennis on Bayer Ascensia is diabetic, and will be sharing his experiences to fellow diabetic sufferers and the Bayer team at the Vincent Pallotti Hospital on December 12th at 1800hrs. You are welcome to meet him there - RSVP: 0860 102 672.
* Pre-start Press Conference & Class 2 Prizegiving, hosted by City of Cape Town's Events Office, Raymarine and AFROX, will be held upstairs at the BMW Pavilion, V&A Waterfront on Friday December 13th - proceedings will kick off with breakfast from 09:30am, followed by the Press Conference (10:15am), Weather Briefing, Prizegiving and Photocall, to wrap up at 11:30am. * The Around Alone fleet and Race Village are based at North Wharf at the V&A Waterfront until the restart on December 14th. Race Merchandise is on sale.
